Terms of service

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Welcome to Lockcal.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of lockcal.com, including any content, features, products, services, purchases, and communications made available through the website (collectively, the "Services").

Throughout these Terms, "Lockcal," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Lockcal. "You" and "your" refer to any visitor, customer, or other user of the Services.

Our online store is powered by Shopify.

By accessing our website, placing an order, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy, Return & Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, and any other policies made available through the website.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility

By using the Services or placing an order, you represent that you are legally permitted to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.

If you are not of the legal age required to enter into a binding contract, you may use the Services only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

2. Our Products

Lockcal offers smart-access products intended to provide convenient access control for compatible doors and spaces.

Product features may include, depending on the applicable model:

  • Fingerprint access
  • Passcode access
  • NFC card access
  • Smartphone app functionality
  • Mechanical backup key access
  • Auto-lock functionality
  • Battery monitoring
  • Other smart-access features

Product specifications, compatibility requirements, included components, appearance, and functionality are described on the applicable product page.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product information is accurate and current.

However, minor differences in appearance, packaging, component presentation, software interfaces, or manufacturing details may occur where they do not materially change the advertised function of the product.

3. Door Compatibility — Customer Responsibility

You are responsible for checking that the product is compatible with your door before placing an order and before beginning installation.

The Lockcal Smart Lock is designed for compatible standard pre-drilled door configurations.

For the current Lockcal Smart Lock, customers should verify the following:

Door thickness

30–50 mm / 1.18"–1.97"

Main bore

Approximately:

54 mm / 2-1/8"

Latch bore

Approximately:

25 mm / 1"

Backset

The distance from the edge of the door to the center of the main bore should be:

60 mm / 2-3/8"

or

70 mm / 2-3/4"

Existing lock configuration

The product is intended for compatible latch-style door preparations.

It is not designed as a direct replacement for integrated or mortise-style locking systems where a large internal lock body is installed inside the door edge.

Compatibility can also depend on:

  • Door construction
  • Existing holes
  • Latch position
  • Strike position
  • Door thickness
  • Backset
  • Existing hardware
  • Installation orientation

If your door does not match the listed specifications, modification may be required or the product may not be suitable for your door.

If you are unsure

Contact us before ordering or modifying your door:

info@lockcal.com

You may send us photos and measurements and we will do our best to assist with a preliminary compatibility review.

Any compatibility guidance provided by customer support is based on the information supplied by the customer and does not replace an in-person inspection by a qualified locksmith or installer.

4. Installation

Customers are responsible for ensuring that installation is performed correctly and safely.

Before drilling, cutting, chiseling, modifying, or otherwise altering a door, you should confirm:

  • The required measurements
  • The drilling locations
  • The internal door hardware
  • The lock configuration
  • The product installation instructions

If you are uncertain about installation, we strongly recommend using a qualified locksmith, door technician, or professional installer.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lockcal is not responsible for damage resulting from:

  • Incorrect installation
  • Incorrect measurements
  • Drilling in the wrong location
  • Improper modification of a door
  • Incompatible existing hardware
  • Failure to follow installation instructions
  • Installation by an unqualified person
  • Customer modification of the product

This does not limit any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

5. First-Time Setup and Security

Customers are responsible for completing all required setup procedures before relying on the product for privacy or access control.

Where applicable, this includes registering an administrator and configuring authorized fingerprints, passcodes, cards, and app access.

A product should not be considered fully configured until installation and setup have been completed and the customer has successfully tested its operation.

You are responsible for:

  • Protecting your passcodes
  • Controlling authorized users
  • Protecting mechanical backup keys
  • Securing access to connected applications
  • Replacing batteries when necessary
  • Regularly testing the lock
  • Following the manufacturer's instructions

6. Product Use

Products must be used only for lawful purposes and in accordance with the supplied instructions.

You must not intentionally use our products to:

  • Facilitate illegal activity
  • Unlawfully restrict another person's movement
  • Gain unauthorized access to property
  • Circumvent applicable laws
  • Interfere with another person's legal rights

You are responsible for ensuring that your installation and use of the product complies with laws, lease requirements, building rules, property-owner requirements, and other obligations applicable to you.

7. Prices

All prices displayed on our U.S. storefront are generally displayed in U.S. dollars (USD) unless otherwise indicated.

We reserve the right to change product prices at any time before an order is placed.

A price change will not normally affect an order that has already been accepted and paid for, except where permitted by law in cases of obvious pricing or technical errors.

Current promotional or compare-at prices may change from time to time.

8. Shipping Charges

Our current standard shipping charge may be displayed during checkout.

Where advertised, qualifying purchases may receive free shipping.

For example, promotional shipping terms such as free shipping when purchasing two or more qualifying units may be offered from time to time.

The final shipping charge applicable to your order will be displayed before you complete checkout.

9. Payment

Payment must be successfully authorized before an order can be processed.

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers.

We do not guarantee that every payment method will always be available.

You represent that:

  • The payment information you provide is accurate
  • You are authorized to use the selected payment method
  • You authorize the applicable charge for your purchase

Orders may be delayed, rejected, or cancelled where payment cannot be verified or where fraud or unauthorized activity is suspected.

10. Order Acceptance

Submitting an order does not necessarily mean that we are required to accept it.

We reserve the right, where permitted by law, to reject or cancel an order for legitimate reasons including:

  • Product unavailability
  • Payment failure
  • Suspected fraud
  • Incorrect pricing
  • Technical errors
  • Shipping restrictions
  • Incorrect customer information
  • Quantity limitations

If we cancel an order after payment has been successfully collected, the applicable amount will be refunded.

11. Order Changes and Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible:

info@lockcal.com

We will make reasonable efforts to assist.

However, because orders may enter fulfillment shortly after being placed, we cannot guarantee that an order can be changed or cancelled once processing has begun.

If cancellation is no longer possible, you may need to follow our Return & Refund Policy after delivery.

12. Shipping and Delivery

Estimated delivery information is provided for convenience and is not a guarantee unless expressly stated otherwise.

Delivery may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Carrier delays
  • Weather
  • Holidays
  • Incorrect addresses
  • Delivery restrictions
  • Fulfillment delays
  • Customs or government action
  • Transportation disruptions

Please refer to our Shipping Policy for additional information.

13. Third-Party Fulfillment

Lockcal may use third-party suppliers, fulfillment providers, logistics providers, order-management services, and shipping carriers to process and deliver orders.

Accordingly, information reasonably necessary to fulfill your purchase may be provided to such parties.

Your purchase remains a purchase from Lockcal, and customer-support questions should be directed to Lockcal rather than contacting an underlying supplier unless we instruct you otherwise.

Shopify's merchant terms specifically require merchants to inform customers when third-party suppliers are used, which is why this section is included clearly in our Terms.

14. Shipping Information Provided by the Customer

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

Please review your information carefully before submitting an order.

If you notice an error, contact us immediately.

Once fulfillment has begun, we cannot guarantee that the address can be changed.

To the extent permitted by law, customers may be responsible for additional costs resulting from incorrect or incomplete delivery information supplied at checkout.

15. Returns and Refunds

Returns and refunds are governed by our separate Return & Refund Policy.

Among other requirements, standard returns generally require the product to be:

  • Within the applicable return period
  • Unused
  • Uninstalled
  • Unmodified
  • Complete
  • In its original condition
  • Returned with its original components and accessories

Please read the full Return & Refund Policy before ordering.

16. Compatibility-Related Returns

A product is not considered defective merely because it does not fit a door that falls outside the compatibility requirements disclosed on our website.

Customers are responsible for measuring and checking their doors before purchase.

If a return is requested because the customer's door is incompatible, the return will be handled according to the applicable compatibility/change-of-mind provisions in our Return & Refund Policy.

17. Installed, Altered, or Damaged Products

Please inspect and measure your door before installing the product.

Installation can result in:

  • Marks
  • Scratches
  • Hardware wear
  • Screw impressions
  • Door modification
  • Drilled holes
  • Other changes

A product that has been installed, modified, damaged, or materially altered may not qualify for a standard change-of-mind return where permitted by applicable law.

Defective-product rights are handled separately under our Return & Refund Policy and applicable law.

18. Product Problems

If a product arrives damaged, incorrect, incomplete, or appears defective, contact:

info@lockcal.com

Please include your order number and, where reasonably necessary, photographs or video showing the problem.

We may use this information to diagnose the issue and determine an appropriate remedy.

19. Third-Party Applications and Services

Certain product functions may use software, applications, networks, or services operated by third parties.

These services may have their own:

  • Terms of service
  • Privacy policies
  • Account requirements
  • Compatibility requirements
  • Availability restrictions

Lockcal does not control third-party platforms and cannot guarantee that a third-party service will remain unchanged or available indefinitely.

Where a feature depends on a third-party service, availability may be affected by that provider.

20. Website Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to keep our website accurate.

Occasionally, information may contain:

  • Typographical errors
  • Inaccuracies
  • Omissions
  • Outdated information
  • Technical errors

These may relate to product descriptions, pricing, promotions, shipping, availability, or other information.

Where permitted by applicable law, we may correct genuine errors or update information.

21. Product Images

We attempt to display our products as accurately as reasonably possible.

However, your screen, device, lighting, manufacturing tolerances, or photography may affect how colors, finishes, and proportions appear.

Product images are intended to represent the product but should be considered together with the written specifications provided on the product page.

22. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, content made available through Lockcal, including:

  • Brand names
  • Logos
  • Website design
  • Written content

You may use the website for personal, non-commercial shopping purposes.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, commercially exploit, republish, or misrepresent our protected materials without authorization, except where permitted by law.

23. Reviews and User Content

If you submit a review, photograph, comment, testimonial, feedback, or other content to us, you represent that:

  • You have the right to submit it
  • It does not violate another person's rights
  • It is not unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, or intentionally misleading

Where you voluntarily submit content for publication, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, display, and format that content in connection with operating and promoting Lockcal, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

We may decline or remove content where reasonably necessary for legal, security, moderation, or authenticity reasons.

24. Prohibited Use of the Website

You may not use our Services to:

  • Commit unlawful acts
  • Attempt fraud
  • Introduce malware or harmful code
  • Scrape or interfere with the website in an abusive manner
  • Circumvent security features

  • Harass or harm others
  • Provide knowingly false information
  • Interfere with another customer's use of the Services

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Services, our customers, or our legal rights.

25. Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of any account credentials or information associated with your use of the Services.

If you believe an account, order, or payment has been used without authorization, contact us promptly.

26. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the website and online Services are provided on an "as available" basis.

We do not guarantee that:

  • The website will operate without interruption
  • Every feature will always be available
  • Every technical error will be immediately corrected
  • Third-party services will remain continuously available

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

27. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lockcal will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or purely economic losses arising from circumstances beyond what applicable law requires us to accept responsibility for.

In particular, to the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage resulting from:

  • Improper installation
  • Incorrect measurements
  • Unauthorized modification
  • Failure to follow instructions
  • Incompatible doors or hardware
  • Misuse of the product
  • Failure to maintain batteries
  • Loss of keys or access credentials
  • Customer-selected third-party applications
  • Events outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful, including any mandatory consumer rights that apply to your purchase.

28. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, or expenses reasonably arising from your unlawful misuse of the Services, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

This provision does not apply where prohibited by applicable consumer law.

29. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

By using our Services, you acknowledge that certain information must be processed in order to:

  • Process payments
  • Fulfill orders
  • Provide delivery
  • Prevent fraud
  • Provide customer support
  • Operate our store

Please review our Privacy Policy for details.

30. Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to websites or platforms that we do not own or operate.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, terms, security, or privacy practices of independent third-party websites.

You should review their policies before providing information or using their services.

31. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or restrict any statutory consumer right that cannot legally be waived.

If a provision of these Terms conflicts with mandatory consumer-protection law applicable to you, the mandatory law will prevail to the extent of that conflict.

32. Governing Law

These Terms and any transaction made through our Services will be governed by the laws applicable to Lockcal and the transaction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply in the customer's jurisdiction.

Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of protections that cannot legally be waived by contract.

33. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent legally permitted or severed where necessary.

The remaining provisions will continue in effect.

34. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean that we permanently waive the right to enforce it later.

35. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the policies referenced in them, constitute the agreement governing your use of the Services and purchases through Lockcal, except where additional terms are expressly agreed.

36. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes to our Services
  • Product changes
  • Operational changes
  • Changes in third-party services
  • Legal or regulatory requirements

The latest version will be posted on this page together with an updated revision date.

Changes will apply prospectively except where applicable law requires otherwise.
